Tinofireyi Zhou Aero5ol
Zimbabwe born Multidisciplinary artist Tinofireyi Zhou aka Aero5ol uses the Spoken and written Word, Street Art and Sound-based intervention to engage and interrogate the world. Along with performances throughout much of Southern Africa the artist co-curated Zimbabwe’s first graffiti inspired exhibition in 2013 (AFROPOLICITY). In 2015 he created an itinerant vinyl archive and DJing project- Revolutions Per Minute- alongside journalist/writer Percy Zvomuya. Aero5ol continues work on a longterm research-based project exploring and building an archive around his family’s Lemba heritage. In 2017 he co-produced The PASS Popup Harare as part of Kudzanai Chiurai’s We Need New Names exhibition. In 2018 he exhibited in SAVVY Contemporary’s “WHOSE LAND HAVE I LIT ON NOW?” exhibition in Berlin. In 2019 he was selected for Art Cube Studios “LowRes” research residency in Jerusalem.
