Ben Hitmaker
Born on 21st February, 1998, Ben Hitmaker is a Zambian rapper based in Samfya, Luapula Province. He is otherwise known as Benny Kalobwe. His music is heavily influenced by crosscutting social issues he has observed in society such as gender inequality, unfair and unequal justice.
The above outlook of Ben’s music is greatly inspired by his membership of a music group from Luapula called Knack Unity. The group consists of five members including Ben. It was formed in 2020 and consists of Machete Jr, Single H2K, Kwanza, Cap10 Jay and Ben. The idea behind this five man crew is to use music as a conduit of positiveness and channel of expression for the underprivileged in society. In this regard, the group upholds ideologies of pan-africanism as it seeks to make an impact on Africa. Ben’s style of rap mixes new age influences with aspects of Dunka, African Hip hop and Afro beats. Ben draws his inspiration from musical artists with the likes of Dax, Lucky Dube and Chef 187.
