AFRO LUSO 2016  | Zambia meets Zimbabwe and South Africa
October and December 2016

Afro Luso 2016 was a two part residency series that focused on public art. Music, graffiti, poetry, art, theatre and film were brought together under one roof, where ground-breaking artists from Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa to region share, create, and inspire.

ZAMBIA Meets ZIMBABWE - October 2016

​Art Installation: 
Aero5ol (Zimbabwe): to re-imagine the Modzi Arts space with graffiti and installation work.


Artist Talk: 
Art and public space, re-configuring and reinterpreting art from past to present, with Aero, Hope Masike and Mumba Yachi on their artistic practice, public art and re-imagining the African space. 


Film Screening: 
Zimdancehall: Welcome to the World (2016) and Nora (2008)


Concert:
Hope Masike (Zimbabwe): singer and mbira player, performing in collaboration with Mumba Yachi

ZAMBIA Meets South Africa - December 2016

Presentation:
Breeze Yoko (South Africa) and London Kamwendo (Zambia) on their art in the Chimurenga Chronic articles.


Artist Talk:
Social & political freedom, movement & Africanness, the post-independence dream with Breeze Yoko, Kiss Abrahams and London Kamwendo

Film Screening:
United States Of Africa (2011)


Public Art Project: 
​
We took the art to the streets of Lusaka, asking artists to leave their footprints. Artists Breeze Yoko(South Africa) and London Kamwendo(Zambia) collaborated and were joined by Dwain Whitaker, Owen Shikabeta, Chibale Kapumpa and Jarell Thompson in Chibolya and different parts of Lusaka making a visual difference to Lusaka.
